20 years after programming the image generator "ShapePainter" (1994 - 97) I have written a new web application in HTML, JavaScript, PHP and CSS - "ShapePainter II" (2016) - by analogy with the former program. This new program also joins pictures according to the random principle from
individual picture elements such as
color surfaces, figurations and characters. Overlaying colors, different
backgrounds and effects can be presetted as well as many other
parameters that define the size of the combined picture, the number of elements
to be used, density, transparency etc. By this means the virtual
painting process is regulated without encroaching upon the informal
character of the pictures generated by coincidence. The figurative
elements used for this purpose were taken from own paintings and photographs and
include significant elements of my own visual language. They are stored as transparent shapes in a PNG or GIF library which is optionally extendable. The completed picture is saved first as HTML code. For the quick view the small GIF format is used, but "gif" can be replaced by "png", for displaying a high resolution with softer crossings and contours.
The results are experimental and a precious experience for my actual painting work.
